Gears of War:
We just recently got an XBox and with it I really wanted to play the Gears of War games. I'm partway through it and it's just as awesome as it was. However, there are noticeable texture load issues, but that's ok. I think I'm either halfway through or getting close to it.
God of War:
G___ of War time it is. This is another game that I didn't play when it originally came out. I recently bought the HD remakes for PS3 and am looking forward to playing through them. I'm about 2 hours into the first game. I remember being skeptical of this game when it first came out, but I think I was only like that out of loyalty towards Devil May Cry 3 (which is an amazing game that I love). I'm looking forward to working my way through this one as well so that I can get on to the sequel and hopefully the third game.
Outland:
If you're looking to this game as Ikaruga but with platforming you'll likely be disappointed. If you look to this game as an action platformer with Ikaruga in it then you'll probably be very happy. My perspective going into it was as a platform game lover, so I've been quite pleased. I was initially concerned about how interesting/difficult the color change mechanic was going to be but it's turned out really well. Some of the sections are very fun and the game is absolutely beautiful. I'm three bosses in and just want to keep going.
Once I finish with these diversions I'm going to reroute my attention back to Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Super Paper Mario, Lunar Knights, and Deathspank.

Backlog Update: The Legeond of PixelGhosts
After much screwing around and avoiding them I finally beat The Legend of Zelda, Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins and PixelJunk Shooter 2. The two former required the use of gamefaqs.com, the latter required the use of an update which gave me a counter of how much treasure I had collected.
With this in mind I must select my new opponents. For the Playstations 3, I choose DeathSpank, the action game by Hothead. For the DS I choose Lunar Knights, from Kojima Productions. For the PSP I choose Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Lastly, for the Wii I choose Super Paper Mario.

Backlog Update: Platforming
I took a break from Zelda-ing to work on some platformers. I decided that I needed to beat Super Mario Bros. from start to finish with no continues or warps, so I did that. It took me several attempts, but I got it down. I then went on to beat Super Mario Bros. 3 again, because it was fun.
Then I put Ultimate Ghosts 'N Goblins in my PSP because I hate myself. That game is so hard, it's ridiculous. I've made some decent progress in but I'm getting so mad at the current level.
I think that the next thing that I'm going to try is something completely new and unplayed to me. I'm thinking about giving up on Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops and writing it off my list as something that I don't want to beat. It's just not as fun as I'd like and I think my reluctance to play it is holding me back because I feel I should play it instead of playing other things. I'll just look up the story spoilers later.

Backlog Update
I'm healthily making my way through The Legend of Zelda. I'm seven
dungeons in and I have the White Sword and the Blue Ring. It's been
really fun, although I have to question how some of the items are
supposed to be compelling.
Oh, look! It's a...ladder?
I dug some more into Super Meat Boy. I beat Hell. Now it's just getting stupid hard. I'm putting it in my, "I don't actively care about beating this game" bucket.
I really need to get back to work on Portable Ops.
